Joshua “J-Prag” Davis
Joshua "J-Prag" Davis is a seasoned radio and entertainment professional with over 25 years of experience. He began his career during college with an internship at WPEG Power 98 FM and V101.9 in Charlotte, NC, where he worked on music and traffic programming. While interning, he also created and earned a "Show of the Year" award for his college radio program, "Tha Backyard Brotha’s & Tha Bandwagon." After graduating, J-Prag became a promotions assistant at Clear Channel Radio's 96.1 WIBT-FM, where he was quickly offered a live on-air position due to his energy and dedication. He later returned to WPEG Power 98 FM, where he continued working in promotions and also developed a career in nightlife promotions and event hosting. J-Prag earned the nickname "The SouthEast MouthPiece" for his influential presence in the Southeast music and cultural scenes.
My Story
Joshua “J-Prag” Davis, a 20 year radio & entertainment veteran, hails from the southeast coast’s historical city of Charleston, SC. His experience in entertainment and media ranges from acting, modeling, master of ceremony, events curator, independent A&R, radio executive & personality just to name a few.
While attending college, J Prag started nurturing his on-air career as he earned an internship working with the Music Director of (then CBS Radio, now Beasley Media Group) WPEG Power 98 fm and V101.9 in Charlotte, NC, where he focused on assisting with music and traffic programming for the stations. During his internship, he also became the creator and two year recipient of Show of The Year Award for his WINR 98.3 fm College Radio Program “Tha Backyard Brotha’s & Tha Bandwagon”. He successfully organized an all-star cast of 5 other students which included a co-host, news anchor, promotions staff, and an intern. This has only furthered his love and ambition for radio programming, branding, and business development.
After graduating from college, J Prag was hired for his first radio position as a promotions assistant for Clear Channel radio’s 96.1 WIBT-fm “The Beat” in Charlotte, NC. Shortly after he was hired, he was offered his first live on-air position weekly. With his high energy, dedication, and team player attitude, he was the first employee in company history to ever be offered an on-air position after only a few months of working in Promotions Department.
After a few years with Clear Channel Radio, J-Prag was eventually offered an opportunity to return to WPEG Power 98 fm, where he was hired as a Promotional Assistant while also nurturing his nightlife promotions & major events curating & hosting career, and he has significantly contributed to Power 98’s community presence over the years. During this time he was given the moniker “The SouthEast MouthPiece” by industry peers, which speaks to his noticeable impact in the Carolina‘s and the Southeast regions music, talent, & cultural scenes.
